How The Vigilantes Ignorantly Broke The Law.
Though the vigilantes might have done this act to scare people from aligning with bandits, however, they over-crossed their boundaries. Nigeria, which is a civilized country bounded by law gives no room for such barbaric behavior – a culprit must have to be tried by a competent court of law before any punishment would be meted on him or her. In this case, the vigilantes were on the same frequency as the informants.
Instead of killing them, ‘Yan Sakai’ should have handed them over to the police, who might get more information concerning the activities of bandits.
The Vigilantes Might Be In Serious Trouble.
According to Section 325 of the Nigerian Criminal Code, manslaughter can lead to life imprisonment. If the long hand of the law catches up with the vigilantes it will spell doom for them. Also, their activities might be outlawed by the Federal Government. Recall that the Sokoto state government banned this group in 2021 for their nefarious modus operandi.
Members of the public are admonished to desist from taking laws into their hands and also report anyone indulging in such.
