Challenges have marked Maryline’s journey since her mother passed away when she was just nine months old. Since the loss, the Form 4 student at Achego Girls High School has largely been raised by her sister, Emily Judith Akoth, alongside seven other siblings.

Emily, a single mother herself, told TUKO.co.ke that Maryline’s education has been a constant struggle due to financial constraints.

Despite these challenges, Emily managed to enrol Maryline in Ring Road Orphans Day School, where she excelled academically.

Despite constantly being sent home for fees, the youngster performed well in her KCPE exams and was admitted to Achego Girls High School.
