The former Governor of Lagos State said this during his acceptance speech after he was declared winner of the 2023 Presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to Channels Television, Tinubu won with 8,794,726 million votes, defeating close rivals Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi 6,101,533.
During his acceptance speech, the President elect promised Nigerians that his administration will bring peace, unity and prosperity and when people see what they have accomplished in the coming years, they will speak with pride that they are true Nigerians.
As gathered from BBC NEWS PIDGIN, Tinubu promised to be a fair leader that will be in tune with the people’s aspiration and will harness their talents to deliver a country that everyone would be proud of.
To candidates who rivalled him in the elections, he extended a hand of friendship saying now is the time for them to build the country together.
He said, “To my fellow candidates, former VP Atiku, former Governor Kwankwaso, former Governor Obi and all others, I extend a hand of friendship. This was a competitive, high-spirited campaign.
“You have my utmost respect. Political competition must now give way to political reconciliation and inclusive governance”. “During the election, you were my opponent, but you will never be my enemy.
In my heart, we are brothers”. Bola Tinubu former assured the youths that he has heard them loud and clear and understands their pains. He said, “I will pay undivided attention to your education, credit will be available, educational loan as well. 4-year course will be 4-year course, no more strike. The President elect promised.
