The President officially designated April 7 as National Police Day, a declaration made during the inaugural Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations ceremony at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, as conveyed by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu emphasized the necessity of a profound transformation in the mindset and institutional memory of police officers as a core aspect of his administration’s ongoing efforts to modernize and professionalize the force.

Since assuming office in 2023, his administration has initiated extensive reforms to revitalize the nation’s police force.

He underscored the importance of training and capacity-building for police personnel to equip them with the necessary expertise for contemporary policing tasks.
