1. Honey

Since time immemorial honey has been used to treat flu and the common cold. In a research done in 2021, researchers found out that honey can be used to treat coughs in upper respiratory infections.

Honey can be used to suppress a cough and also as an antibiotic.

How to use honey.

Swallow a spoonful of honey or add it to a hot drink like herbal tea or hot water.

2. Ginger

Ginger can be used to ease dry or asthmatic cough because it contains anti-inflammatory properties.

Research conducted in 2015 proved that ginger mixed with other remedies can be used to treat the common cold and prevent nausea other than being a tea and food spice.

In some rare cases ginger can cause heartburn and stomach ulcers so be careful when taking ginger.

  • How to use steam.
  • In a bowl add hot water
  • Add mixed herbs( use rosemary or eucalyptus) to the water, the herbs will help to reduce congestion.
  • Lean over the bowl and put a towel on top of your head. ensure that the steam doesn’t get out,
  •  Inhale the steam for at least 10 minutes.

4. Thyme

Thyme can act as both culinary and medicinal since it can be used to treat colds, bronchitis, sore throat and digestive issues.

5. Salt water gargle.

Gargling with salt water can help clean your throat and prevent any infections and bacteria from staying in the throat.

It is mostly used to treat sore throats and some symptoms of the common cold. saltwater gargling may help relieve pain and loosen mucus.

How to use saltwater gargle.

Stir half a teaspoon of salt into a cup of warm water until it dissolves.

Allow the solution to cool slightly before using it.
