According to journalist Pedro Sepulveda on Twitter (h/t Liverpool Echo), Manchester United are trying ‘steal’ Darwin Nunez from under the noses of Liverpool....CONTINUE READING

The Uruguayan international has come close to joining the Reds in the past day, but it seems that Erik ten Hag’s side does not want to give up that easily. Liverpool’s offer apparently stands at €100million and a contract that lasts five years.

Nunez, meanwhile, is believed to want to play in the UEFA Champions League, something Manchester United can obviously not offer. They are set to play in the UEFA Europa League next campaign.

Given Manchester City and Liverpool’s duopoly in England and Chelsea’s rise under Thomas Tuchel, it will not be easy for United to get back into the UCL again. Add to this Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, and ten Hag has a real mountain to climb next campaign.

Nunez’s agent is apparently having a meeting with Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, and the Red Devils seemingly want to grab the striker at the 11th hour. That is something we cannot let happen.

LFC have come too far to fumble this deal. There is no denying that Liverpool’s sporting project is far better than Man United’s as of now.

They were in contention for four trophies this season while Man Utd were largely underperforming. It is true that Nunez can become the face of United’s possible revival under ten Hag.

But that is a big if. At Liverpool, he would be with a team that is now accustomed to fighting for the biggest prizes. And it’s not like he cannot create a legacy here.

With Sadio Mane linked to Bayern Munich and Roberto Firmino’s struggles to hold down a regular spot down the middle, the stage is set for Nunez to come and join a long list of elite centre-forwards that have graced Anfield.

Liverpool place £17m price tag on in-demand Liverpool ace

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have placed a £17million price tag on Takumi Minamino, with the forward struggling for regular playing time at the club.

The Japanese international moved to Liverpool from RB Salzburg in the middle of the 2019/20 season. But since then, he has struggled to become a regular starter under Jurgen Klopp.

Such was his struggle for minutes that Liverpool loaned him out in winter last year, where he then played for Southampton. But this season, things have been different.

The 27-year-old played a huge role in our FA Cup and EFL Cup triumph- the two trophies we managed to win this season. And now, Wolves and Fulham are linked with a move for him.

Minamino off to Wolves or Fulham?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are a strong team under Bruno Lage who would want to push for European places next season. The Cottagers, meanwhile, just earned promotion from the Championship this summer.

The price tag LFC are demanding could seem modest for some. But the Reds paid less than half of that when they brought him in from Austria around three years back for a £7.25million fee.

Nevertheless, Minamino has come to England and showed that he can be an important player for teams such as Wolves and Fulham. His performance in the domestic cup competitions is evidence of that.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if teams are willing to pay such a fee for a player that hasn’t really become a regular first-team player for LFC in the past several years. But at 27, Minamino is still in his prime years.
