On Friday, the Economic and Administrative Coordination Commission (EACC) successfully conducted a probe into one Fredrick Ondari Ochanda, who is the Assistant Director responsible for Development Control, Built Environment, and Urban Planning.

The man arrested is a close friend to the Naiorbi Governor and it is allegedly that the man has been untouchable for long.

The Nairobi City County Government conducted this operation as part of ongoing investigations into corruption in various departments.

Following the operation in Kisii, Nairobi, and Ngong, they led the suspect to the EACC Integrity Centre, where he recorded a statement.

Ochanda, a key department employee, faces accusations of using his position to engage in corrupt activities and economic crimes, accumulating a fortune that deviates from his known legal sources of income.

The following action may include criminal prosecution and/or seizure of any assets discovered to have been obtained by fraudulent means, depending on the findings of the inquiry.

Reports indicate that a controversy involving a payment of Ksh 297 million has led to the arrest of officials. Fredrick Ochanda, who worked in the Planning and Development Approval Department of Nairobi City County, was the first person to be taken into custody.

There has been a controversy over the alteration of land records, particularly in areas such as Parklands, South C, Pangani, and Kilimani.

A good example of this would be the modification of records to misrepresent the size of plots. For instance, adjusting the size of a half-acre plot to make it appear smaller than its actual size would constitute theft from the county.
