The 37 year old Portuguese international has stated that he wants to move to a club with ambition where he can amass several personal awards and trophies before he hangs up his boots,as he is not getting any younger.
Cristiano Ronaldo was buoyed to make this decision by Manchester United’s inactivity in the ongoing transfer market. Despite finishing 6th in the Premier League last season,the English club has signed zero players,with their top rivals like Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur already getting the signature of two to three players already.
Another reason why Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants to move out of Old Trafford is the fact that the club will be playing in the UEFA Europa League campaign next season,a competition which the five time ballon d’or winner wishes to avoid in order to play in the Champions League campaign instead.
Top European clubs playing in the Champions League campaign next season like Bayern Munich,AC Milan,PSG, Chelsea and SSC Napoli have asked about the availability of the player,with his agent,Jorge Mendes looking for a fitting club already.
Manchester United’s board are still insistent on not selling him,as they are expecting him to honor the one year contract he has left at the club and turn up for training at the Carrington Training Complex soon.
In my opinion, I think the sooner the club releases Cristiano Ronaldo and starts searching for a new center forward,the better for the club. Same for the fans. It may actually be time to move on from Cristiano Ronaldo and not blame him for trying to move to another club this summer.
For one thing, Manchester United are at the beginning of a rebuild at Manchester United,with Erik ten Hag and a few new signings coming to reinforce the club,and it may not be a few years before they begin to win trophies again.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo has only a few years of his professional career as a footballer left before he retires,he ought to go to a football club that will give home more trophies before he retires.
Again,with the major rebuild now coming to Manchester United,the club will need a new striker to spearhead Erik ten Hag’s team,and Cristiano Ronaldo may be doing the club a favor to leave in order that they may focus on getting a young lad who will be at the club for long, instead of being saddled with an old striker who doesn’t want to he at the club.
No matter the way you look at it,it is a win-win situation for both Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United if the latter agrees to let him leave this summer to another top European club.
