According to Punch, it was reported that due to his close but brief interaction with the late TB Joshua as a journalist, he felt the need to contribute to the ongoing controversy arising from the recent exposure caused by the BBC.

The differing opinions on the BBC documentary point to the uncertainty surrounding whether he was a true man of God.

Pastor Akinyemi said that from his point of view, he seems to be somewhere in the middle, and it is difficult to classify him due to his perfect outer appearance and questionable inner behavior.

He said that when he was still working with “The Exclusive”, an exotic weekly newspaper that TB Joshua published, he would invite them to meetings in the evening but would not show up until midnight. While they wait for TB Joshua, they will be served sumptuous meals but he will not join others at the meals.

He said: “But the one thing I couldn’t avoid was the huge envelope full of money he always gave us at every meeting. When I opened the envelope, I saw as much as 25,000.

Just as you might be called to another meeting. The next day or every day remaining in the week, after which the envelope will be shipped. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t touched the leaflets of previous meetings in which nothing important was discussed.”

He continued: “Sometimes he (TB Joshua) would just say that the meeting was to compliment some of us on the stories we had written. This seemed to make him the toast of the team except me.

This generosity seems more subversive than anything else. What publisher would hold meetings to disrupt editorial schedules just to share envelopes?…CONTINUE READING>>
