According to reports, Smangele’s boyfriend, who is also the father of their 7-month-old child, attacked her, stabbing her seven times in the head before fleeing the scene. This brutal act has left Smangele’s family devastated and has once again sparked outrage across the nation.

Gender-based violence is a pervasive issue in South Africa, with statistics showing that the country has one of the highest rates of intimate partner violence in the world.

The tragic death of Smangele Dlamini serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for action to combat gender-based violence in South Africa. It is imperative that society as a whole works together to change the attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate this violence and to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
