Havertz extended Arsenal’s lead just after the hour mark, capitalizing on a precise cutback from Jorginho.
Despite Brighton’s occasional flashes of brilliance, including a stunning curler from Julio Enciso saved by David Raya, they struggled to break through Arsenal’s formidable defense marshaled by Roberto de Zerbi.
Substitute Trossard, a former Brighton player, dashed clear in the dying minutes to compound his former team’s misery, sealing their first home defeat since September.
The loss leaves Brighton in 10th place, with a daunting trip to Burnley awaiting them next Saturday.
