Wolves vs Liverpool...CONTINUE READING
Tuesday night’s FA Cup title defense for Liverpool might be derailed at the first hurdle when they face Wolves in their third-round rematch at Molineux.
The first meeting between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw for Julen Lopetegui’s men, but they would have been disappointed not to have advanced right away.
On January 7, at Anfield, Wolves center-back Toti believed he had eliminated FA Cup champions Liverpool; however, the offside flag was hoisted and VAR was powerless to intervene. He was booked for the shirt-stripping as he wheeled away in joy.
Swansea vs Bristol City
Swansea City and Bristol City will square off in the FA Cup third-round rematch on Tuesday night in an effort to advance to the competition’s fourth round.
Joel Piroe’s strike in the 15th minute gave Swansea the lead over the weekend. The two championship teams had to play each other in a replay after Antoine Semenyo’s goal in the 75th minute tied the game.
Piroe’s strike gave Swansea a 15-minute advantage in Bristol last weekend, as previously reported, but the Welsh team was unable to take advantage of that lead as Semenyo equalized late.
Forest Green Rovers vs Birmingham City
Birmingham City, a Championship team, will travel to struggling Forest Green Rovers, a League One team, on Tuesday night in an effort to move on to the FA Cup’s fourth round.
The game was postponed because the Bolt New Lawn Stadium’s pitch needed to be inspected, and a new date was chosen for it. Originally, the matchup between the two teams was slated for January 7. In order to advance this far in the competition, Forest Green had to defeat South Shields 2-0 on November 5 and Alvechurch 2-1 toward the end of the month.
Accrington Stanley vs Boreham Wood
In an effort to move on to the FA Cup’s fourth round, Accrington Stanley and Boreham Wood will square off once more on Tuesday night.
When the two teams first faced off on January 7, Ryan Astley of Accrington scored the game’s first goal in Hertfordshire. Lindokuhle Ndlovu responded by tying the score at 90 minutes.
Accrington has won twice since the 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood on January 7. First, they defeated Lincoln City in the EFL Trophy on penalties before defeating Bristol Rovers 2-0 on Saturday in League One.
