According to Sahara Reporters, Tinubu’s remarks come amid escalating cases of terrorist attacks and kidnapping, particularly in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Despite acknowledging the military’s role in securing relative peace in major conflict areas, Tinubu stressed the ongoing need to combat insecurity until every inch of Nigerian territory is under government control.
He said, “Let me reiterate the urgency to upscale the fight against insecurity, which has robbed us of peace and progress. Remember that the war is not yet over until every parcel of land held by the enemy is flying the flag of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I urge you to continue to play your constitutional role of safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria, our fatherland. You must shun any acts that are inimical to the wellbeing of our nation and acts which can destroy the gains of democracy which we have enjoyed in the last 20 years.”
In a statement attributed to the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu reiterated the government’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and pledged continued support to meet their operational needs.
He highlighted the NDA’s role in producing well-equipped cadets through its robust curriculum approved by the National Universities Commission.
Tinubu applauded the NDA’s efforts in maintaining a consistent academic calendar and advocated for its transformation into a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, likening it to Nigeria’s Silicon Valley. He urged academic staff to foster an environment conducive to research and development, aiming to attract Nigerian students and scholars worldwide.
The President emphasized the importance of quality military and academic training in combating the scourge of banditry, insurgency, and other criminal activities plaguing the nation. He commended the leadership of the NDA for its contributions since the institution’s establishment in 1964, highlighting its evolution in training officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Throughout his address, Tinubu stressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and promoting the well-being of its citizens.
