Apart from the presidency, other top positions in the National Assembly include, the majority leader, deputy majority leader, majority or chief whip, the deputy whip, minority leader, deputy minority leader, minority whip and deputy minority whip.

According to the parliamentary tradition, only ranking members, serving two or more terms, will form the leadership of the parliament.

However, it was reported that notable individuals who have showed interest in being President of the 10th Senate include, Mohammed Sani Musa from Niger State, Orji Uzoh Kalu from Abia State, Ali Ndume from Borno State, Jibrin Barau from Kano State and Akpabio from Akwa-Ibom State.

Moreover, Senator Ali Ndume, who contested for the presidency of the 9th Senate against Danjuma Goje and Ahmad Lawan, confirmed the development while he was speaking during an exclusive interview with a Punch Correspondent.

Quoting a statement released by Ali Ndume, he said “Akpabio, Orji Kalu told me they have interest in Senate Presidency, but I also have interest in the position.

In addition, further made a hilarious statement saying, “but they should know that I am also in the race. So, place preference on me in your report.”
