Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United, although were made to sweat in the final minutes to hang on to their lead.

Goals from Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk were enough for the Blues, who certainly showed signs of their best at times last night.

He was forced to make a number of changes from their last game against Brentford, with these also leading to the end of the five at the back experiment.

In the place of the injured Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell, the manager decided to start Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella down the left-hand-side.

Perhaps the biggest criticism of the attacking portion of that duo is that nearly all of their promising moments came down the opposite flank, normally due to a combination of Palmer and Malo Gusto.

Sterling did find himself clean through on goal with the chance to kill off their opponents, however could only strike against a man on the line after rounding the goalkeeper.

He was finally replaced in the second half by the boss, with him introducing Mudryk into the fray and changing the system so he was able to feature in a central role where he had starred against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

This decision paid off to great effect when the Ukraine international weaved his way through and scored what turned out to be the winning goal.

Sterling has failed to take his opportunity numerous times this season, and supporters are beginning to get sick of seeing the likes of Mudryk and Noni Madueke being starved of chances off the back of this.

With reports stating that there are some at the club who are considering selling the England man at the end of the season, Pochettino should look elsewhere for the forseeable future as far as a start goes…CONTINUE READING>>
