According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United midfielder Fred has emerged as a potential target for Fulham in the summer transfer window.

United defeated Fulham 2-1 in the last game of the season and post the game, Fulham manager Marco Silva was seen talking to Fred igniting transfer rumours involving the Brazilian.

Fred had an outstanding game against Fulham and provided one of the assists of the season with his defence cutting through-ball for the second goal.

Opportunities have been hard to come by for Fred this season with Erik Ten Hag preferring a midfield of Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro more often than not.

Although he has made 55 appearances for the team, most of them have been off the bench and with his contract expiring at the end of next season in 2024, this summer does provide an opportunity for Fred to consider his options.

The club also provides a chance to recoup some of the transfer fees that was paid to Shakhtar Donetsk and use the funds to make quality additions to the squad.

While Fred has been a good servant to the club whenever called upon, he is not up to the standard of being a starter for the team every week and over time with more signings, his appearances off the bench will also reduce.
Fred does not rule out Manchester United in Premier League title race.

If he is comfortable with playing such a role, then keeping Fred does make sense as his attributes do have some advantages as well, especially when we need fresh legs and energy during the latter stages of the game.

If not, then the best option for all parties involved would be to assess the clubs that are interested in the midfielder and part ways where the club could recoup some money and the player can get regular minutes.
