This means that, despite spending a huge amount of money signing some players, some of these players ended up leaving Arsenal as free agents, and as such, Arsenal was unable to gain anything from the transfer. Thus, we will be seeing four (4) players who happen to be in this category.

Below are the four (4) players, and a few details about their transfers:

• Before joining Arsenal, Alexandre Lacazette was playing for Olympique Lyonnais, and being one of the best-rated players in the club (then), Arsenal signed him with a transfer fee of €53 million. Before the end of the season, he announced he would be leaving Arsenal as a free agent, and just this week, he left Arsenal and joined a new club.

Surprisingly, he ended up joining his former club, Olympique Lyonnais, however, he joined the club on Free Transfer.

• Earlier this year, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal and joined Barcelona as a free agent, and he’s currently one of the best-rated players in Barcelona. Arsenal signed the player from Borussia Dortmund with a transfer fee of €63.75 million; however, while he left Arsenal this year, the club gained nothing from the transfer since he left on a free transfer.

• Mesut Ozil is arguably one of the best players Arsenal ever had. Before joining Arsenal, he played for Real Madrid, and that was where Arsenal signed him from.

Arsenal signed him from Real Madrid with a transfer fee of €47 million. However, while he left Arsenal, he joined Fenerbahce as a free agent.

• Lastly, Arsenal signed Henrikh Mhkitaryan from Manchester United with a transfer fee of €34 million, however, the player left Arsenal as a free agent in 2020 and joined AS Roma. Just like the earlier mentioned 3 players, Arsenal also gained nothing when Mhkitaryan joined Roma.

Thus, in total, Arsenal spent €197.75 million in signing these 4 players, however, all of them left Arsenal as free agents, and thus, Arsenal gained €0 million when they left the club. In essence, Arsenal had a transferred loss of €197.75 million.
