According to Punch, The meeting, which started around 5:30 pm, was attended by the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Ministers of Education, Dr Tahir Mamman; Finance, Wale Edun; Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari and State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri.

The meeting was aimed at finding solutions to the economic challenges facing the nation, especially the problem of hunger and poverty that has triggered widespread protests among the citizens.

In Niger State, a group of women blocked the busy Minna-Bida Road at the Kpakungu Roundabout and demanded that the Tinubu administration should address the issue of hunger in the land.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as “We are hungry”, “Tinubu, save us from hunger”, and “Enough is enough”.

The protesters defied the efforts of the security operatives who tried to disperse them by firing tear gas and making some arrests. The women insisted that they would not leave the road until the government listened to their plight.

A similar protest was also reported in Kano State, where angry youths and women marched along the streets and chanted slogans against the government’s policies.

They accused the Tinubu administration of failing to deliver on its promises of improving the economy and creating jobs for the masses.

The protesters also expressed their dissatisfaction with the rising prices of food items, fuel, electricity and other essential commodities. They called on the government to reverse the situation or face more resistance from the people.

The protests in Niger and Kano are the latest in a series of demonstrations that have rocked the country in recent weeks over the economic situation.
