Arguably the most controversial truck of its time, the Cybertruck’s styling can easily be improved. After a four-year wait, Tesla Cybertruck deliveries will finally commence this week, but would there be more hype if it was better looking?...CONTINUE READING

While the electric truck has amassed an enormous following, just as many people despise it for its angular styling.

Sent to us by graphic artist Dejan Hristov, whose portfolio includes a Miata rival, the reimagined Cybertruck is made more desirable with a softer front end and sleeker lines.

Perhaps not as distinctive as the real deal, Hristov’s take is far more practical, particularly when viewed from the side and rear. Look quickly, and you could be forgiven for thinking this is the leaked pickup truck from Lucid.

While still futuristic, Hristov’s Cybertruck does away with the sudden angles with flush-fitted glass and sculpted body panels. The overall effect is a more modern truck that doesn’t resemble a mobile corrugated steel workshop.

When viewed from the side, one could almost describe the rendering as sporty. The stance is brilliant and gives the Cybertruck a taut and purposeful look. Somehow, it reminds us of the 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution that tackled the Dakar rally. The rear is arguably the most successful change.

A slim light bar wraps around the rear fascia, while the integrated bumpers make everything neater than the production model. Hristov also added some of his own changes, such as a frunk drawer (as opposed to the traditional design), an active rear spoiler, and a neatly integrated pop-up windscreen wiper.

Overall, the rendering looks more attractive and doesn’t lose the Cybertruck’s signature profile. Admittedly, it’s not as distinctive or eye-catching, but we’d be willing to bet it would be better received than the production-ready model.

Of course, styling is subjective, and the scores of Cybertruck fans suggest Tesla is doing something right. Besides, the automaker went to great lengths to ensure the road-going version was near-identical to the concept shown in 2019.

We’ve already seen what the Cybertruck could have looked like. Early sketches show a sleeker design, but Elon Musk didn’t want to go with something boring – he wanted to break the mold.

Musk said he didn’t want to do a boring truck and looked to movies and video games for inspiration. “I don’t care if no one buys it. We’re not doing a traditional boring truck. We can always do that later. I want to build something that’s cool. Like, don’t resist me,” said the CEO to his design team.

It was a risky move, and it achieved the desired effect of grabbing headlines, but we think this redesign is better…CONTINUE READING>>
