Like the Prius hatch, the new Camry has sleeker styling and – for the first time – hybrid-only power. The Toyota Camry as we know it is no more, because for the first time, the Camry will be exclusively hybridized....CONTINUE READING

Previously, you could choose between different combustion engines, topped by a 301-horsepower V6, and a hybrid setup with specs of 208 hp.

For the new model year, not only does the Camry get a sharper suit and re-engineered suspension settings, but it gets just one engine: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System that makes up to 232 hp combined.

The only choice you’ll have to make is which wheels you want driven – and buyers can get all-wheel drive on any of the four trims now.

The release date for the new Toyota Camry sedan is set for Spring 2024; it should arrive in dealerships in the USA in the first half of the year.

An official price for the 2025 Toyota Camry hasn’t been made public yet, but we can assume that a slight increase in the existing MSRPs will apply to the latest models.

Based on the pricing of the 2024 Camry Hybrid lineup – which starts at $28,855 for the base model and tops out at around $35k before destination for the most expensive model – it’s likely that the new Camry range will start over $30k, to begin with, nearing $40k at the top-end of the lineup. Adding AWD will likely push the cost up by another one- or two-thousand dollars.

Traditionally, main rivals to the Camry include the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata, both of which offer hybrid models in the lineup.

In their current form, neither of these offer as much power, with only 204 hp and 192 hp on offer, respectively – and, importantly, neither offer AWD. The cheapest Accord Hybrid for 2024 has an MSRP of $32,545, while the Sonata Hybrid costs just $28,450 in its base trim for 2023.

Exterior changes to the new Toyota Camry sedan are extensive enough to change it from the humdrum sedan your dad drives to a much sleeker, sportier-looking sedan that even younger folk won’t mind driving.

The front end with a distinctive hammerhead fascia is fresh, and all models get slim LED headlights and DRLs. Top trims get premium LED lighting at the front and rear. The headlight design is a lot like what we saw on the new Prius.

The grille also differs between trim grades, with a black sport mesh style grille on the SE and a dark metallic gray grille on the XLE. SE and XSE trims are tweaked with sportier design elements, including functional air ducts, front-side canards, and a rear diffuser.

A dual-tip exhaust and rear lip spoiler also set these models apart, and as the XSE is at the top of the lineup, it gets a model-specific front grille and black trunk garnish.

Wheels are 16-inch multi-spoke items as standard on the entry-spec model, growing to 18 inches on SE and XLE trims with 19-inch items fitted to the XSE in a smoke gray finish. XLE and XSE trims can be fitted with a tilt-and-slide panoramic roof.

As for exterior colors, the Toyota Camry can be had in new hues like Ocean Gem and Heavy Metal, as well as favorites like Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver, Underground, Midnight Black, Supersonic Red, and Reservoir Blue.

The XSE gets exclusive access to a Midnight Black Metallic roof when paired with Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, Supersonic Red, or Ocean Gem.

Dimensions for the 2025 Toyota Camry weren’t shared at the reveal, and with significant exterior changes, we can expect them to differ from the current model. Variances aren’t likely to be excessive, though, so we can use the measurements from the 2024 Camry Hybrid as a guide.

The current car stretches to a max length of 192.7 inches over a 111.2-inch wheelbase, with width coming in at 72.4 inches. Height is just under 57 inches, and the Camry as it is weighs 3,580 pounds in its heaviest form.

The biggest change for the 2025 model lies under the hood, where buyers can no longer choose what they want to power their Camry.

The standard engine in the Toyota Camry is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder combined with the brand’s fifth-gen hybrid system that uses two electric motors in FWD configuration for a total of 225 hp. All trims can have on-demand AWD system now, though, which ups the net outputs to 232 hp.

The hybrid system has been tuned to reduce engine RPMs at lower speeds and increase power from the battery for improved acceleration.

Although we haven’t got 0-60 and top speed figures yet, we’re likely to see an improvement in the benchmark sprint from the low seven seconds in the current hybrid model. Top speed will probably remain at around 130 mph.

In addition to this, the Camry gets a retuned suspension in an effort to turn the relatively unexciting sedan into a more agile and responsive car. Sport trims benefit even more, with bespoke suspension tuning for improved comfort. We’re hoping these improvements match the fresher appearance of the new Toyota Camry hybrid sedan.

The gas mileage figures for the new Toyota Camry hybrid sedan haven’t been released, but we can draw some conclusions from what we know about the outgoing model.

The current hybrid manages 51/53/52 mpg city/highway/combined in its most frugal form (FWD with 16-inch wheels) – we expect the new models to get close to this, although it may be slightly less efficient considering outputs are higher.

The 2024 model does dip as low as 44/47/46 mpg for the SE, XLE, and XSE trims. Adding AWD to the new model will also affect fuel economy.

Interior changes to the Toyota Camry are easily noticeable, even if it doesn’t feel like a complete overhaul. The dashboard has been redesigned to look sleeker and less cluttered, and houses the new infotainment display.

The system comprises a standard eight-inch touchscreen on the base model, although a 12.3-inch alternative is available, which comes standard on upper-tier models.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included across the lineup, and you also get standard wireless smartphone charging and three USB ports in front and two in the rear. A nine-speaker JBL Premium Audio upgrade is available, likely to the top trims only.

Base models have a seven-inch digital gauge cluster, but XLE and XSE trims upgrade to a 12.3-inch information cluster. These top-end models can also be equipped with a ten-inch head-up display that will indicate speed, warning indicators, and turn-by-turn navigation.

Dual-zone automatic climate control with air vents in the second row and a smart key with push-to-start are standard from the base model.

The Toyota Camry will come fitted with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing, road sign assist, and proactive driving assist as standard.

Available to the upper trims is a Premium Plus Package that adds traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, a panoramic view monitor, and front and rear parking assist.

As for the seats in the new Toyota Camry, comfort has been improved, according to the automaker, with changes to the cushions and headrest.

Cloth is the standard fare at the entry point to the range, and the LE’s interior features embossed ocean wave patterning on the woven fabric interior trim and seat surfaces. Color schemes are limited to Boulder or Black on both lower-tier models, but the SE gets SofTex-trimmed seats with white accents.

XLE models are the first Toyota Camry models to have leather and microfiber-trimmed seats, and buyers will be able to kit their Toyota Camry in colors like Light Gray or black. The seats, door panels, and dashboard show off a quilted patterning to further the luxury brief for this trim.

By contrast, the XSE gets leather with ‘shooting blade’ patterned perforations on the door trim and seats. Available colors are black with blue-lined perforations or Cockpit Red.

High-end trims have access to heating and ventilation and a quieter cabin, thanks to acoustic laminated glass, and have aluminum sport pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel as standard.

Finally, cargo space hasn’t been confirmed for the latest Toyota Camry, but it’s likely to be the same as the 15.1 cubic feet available for existing models…CONTINUE READING>>
