What Are The Home Remedies Women Can Try To Help Reduce Swollen Legs and Feet After Pregnancy?

1. Avoid eating salty foods – eating too much salt after giving birth can worsen the retention of fluid. This is due to the fact that salt contains sodium to a good extent and since your body is still retaining fluid from the pregnancy, stay away from salt for a while to help reduce the fluid being retained in the body. Cut down on processed foods, prepackaged foods and some other already prepared foods because they often contain sodium.

2. Drink more water – this is one way of reducing the amount of fluid being retained by the body. When you stay hydrated, you can help your body with losing water weight, it may sound counterintuitive but that’s a fact, when you’re dehydrated or not hydrated enough, the body tends to retain water, so drinking enough water will instead promote eradication of this fluid from the body.

3. Elevate your feet above the level of the heart. This is one easy way of reducing the swelling of the legs and feet. This is because when you spend some time with your feet elevated, you automatically boost the flow of blood around this body part causing you to have lower concentration of fluid in this body part. This won’t work instantly but after sometime, you should notice an improvement.
