The fifth suspect handed himself over to Commission’s detectives in Bungoma Regional Offices on Monday evening.
He was then driven to the EACC Headquarters in Nairobi, where he was detained alongside four other suspects.
Among them is former Director General of the National Museum of Kenya Mzalendo Kibunjia who was arrested on Monday alongside an ICT officer, an accountant and one more suspect.
The suspects allegedly mismanaged public funds through irregular payments of salaries to ghost workers, who were later transferred to senior officials.
“Upon conclusion of investigations, the commission submitted the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions who concurred with the commission’s recommendations to charge the suspects,” EACC Deputy Director for Corporate Affairs Eric Ngumbi told journalists in Nakuru on Monday.
“The suspects are to be charged with mismanagement of Sh490,000,000 at the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) between Financial Years 2015-16 and 2021-22.”
