In 1920, when Rosalla Lombardo was just two years old, she passed away from pneumonia. Her passing depressed her father who was unable to confront the truth but instead struggled to find ways to protect their family’s legacy....CONTINUE READING

After consulting with a well-known embalmer, he made the choice to undergo mummification.

Who Is Alfredo Salafia?

Alfredo Salafia was a trained specialist who skillfully executed the embalming of Rosalia Lombardo. He did such a good job with it that even after one hundred years have passed since her passing, Rosalia Lombardo still looks like a sleeping beauty.

Preservation Of An Exceptional Quality

She was mummified at the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Italy, and now she is displayed in a glass exhibit where she looks as though she is dozing off. The little stiff plump cheeks and blonder tufts of hair wrapped over her head and secured with a silk bow continue to astonish tourists.

An x-ray examination that the researchers carried out on her confirmed that none of her organs had been damaged. What was the secret of Alfredo Salafia’s success in reaching such a high level of mastery? Because his work didn’t follow the usual way of preserving mummies.

Because of a well-guarded recipe, he was able to retain Rosalia’s body in pristine shape throughout the entire process. The process that Alfredo went through was uncovered in documents that were discovered in 2009 with his relatives.

Salafia decided to create a puncture in Rosalia’s body rather than remove the internal organs, and filled the voids left by the removal of those organs with natron salts in order to dry up the body. After a hole was made in the body, glycerin, formalin, zinc salt, alcohol, and salicylic acid were injected into it.

The components were chosen with care since each played a distinct role that was essential to the overall purpose of the dish.

Formalin was responsible for killing bacteria, glycerin was responsible for preventing desiccation, salicylic acid was responsible for removing flesh fungus, and zinc was responsible for providing stiffness. As a result, zinc worked its miraculous properties, and as a result, her cheeks did not sag.

Rosalia Lombardo is regarded as one of the best-preserved mummies, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Alfredo Salafia, who worked to preserve her body.

The Unexplainable Enigma

However, the peculiar activity of the mummies, which consists of blinking their eyes, is what really gets people’s attention. It is not just the fact that the sleeping beauty is said to have been preserved so well. Tourists highly recommend the strange riddle, which leaves some travelers enthralled and others scared out of their minds.

There are available photographs of Rosalia Lombardo. A video produced by National Geographic in 2009 had an MRI performed, and the sequences of her photo demonstrate that her eyelids are genuinely blinking. Her eyes can open and close when she moves them 1/4 of an inch.

It’s interesting to note that, just like the rest of her body, her blue eyes sparkle when the light is dim.

Scientists and other theorists have tried to solve her mystery, which has been labeled as “miraculous”.

Many theorists have come to the conclusion that Rosalia Lombardo’s eyelids contract as a result of fluctuations in the temperature inside the crypt, which gives the appearance that she is blinking.

However, some professionals in the field. such as the curator of the Capuchin Catacombs, Dario Piombino-Mascali, disagree with this theory.

In his opinion, the act of a person blinking their eyes is nothing more than an optical illusion. The light does its part by playing its role and filtering inside the subterranean window in a variety of ways.

As the day goes on, the angle at which the light hits her face changes. This creates an optical illusion that makes it look like she keeps blinking, opening and closing her eyes.

What They usually Rubs Her Face

In addition to the optical illusion, the solution of ether and paraffin is rubbed on her face. This creates the impression that she is directly staring at the observer, which strengthens the idea that she is merely a mortal being.

How is she even able to look?

Closer inspection shows that her eyes never close all the way. This, along with the fact that they blink, seems to be something Alfredo Salafia did on purpose to make the character look more alive and dangerous

The issue thus arises: is it really an optical illusion, or does she genuinely blink in that picture? Is it more of a miracle or a scientific explanation? The second possibility is one that believes should not be discounted because, after all, our world is full of unusual and eerie occurrences.

It’ s interesting to note that many cults believe Rosalia s spirit will return to her body at some point. Who could say?…CONTINUE READING>>
