The disturbing and perplexing Rampart Street Murder case contains the most twisted details that the mind cannot comprehend.
The police got a call from Omni Royals, a hotel, on October 17, 2006. The caller described a man who jumped from the hotel’s rooftop bar and landed seven stories below in the top of a parking garage. When the cops came, they were able to quickly identify the body.
A handwritten note, carefully placed in a plastic bag and signed by him, was found in the front pockets of his pants. In it, he said that this was not an accident.
He committed suicide to make amends for the life he took
How He Committed The Crime
The suicide note directed police to an apartment at 826 North Rampart Street, New Orleans.
It stated that once the police arrived, they would find all relevant evidence of the crime he committed. Spray-painted notes covered the walls of the apartment; saying that he is a total failure.
The police were horrified to discover two pots on the stove containing a woman’s head, hands, and feet.
Addie Hall, Zack s partner, owned the parts. Her arms and legs were also seasoned and placed on oven trays.
The police initially suspected the couple of cannibalism, but the autopsy proved them wrong. Zack had written down and signed every detail of his crime in Addie s journal. According to the confessions, he murdered Eddie on October 5, 2006, 12 days before committing suicide.
He claimed he strangled Addie and left her body on their bed. He then dragged her to the bathtub and dismembered her into pieces that the cops discovered stacked in the pots and oven trays.
The Confession revealed that he scared himself not by calmly strangling the woman he love for one and a half years… but by his complete lack of remorse, he’s always known what a horrible person he was.
He also claimed that during the 12 days that he withdrew money from the bank, he spent $1500 on drugs and strippers because he knew his life would end anyway.
His body was also covered in cigarette burns, and he explained that each bum represented a failure.
Military Plus Marriage
Zack grew up in California before relocating to New Orleans. He had a difficult childhood due to severe depression in his early years.
He began working as a bartender at the age of 18 after graduating from high school. There, he met Lana Shupack, a 28-year-old woman, and they fell in love. They decided to marry because they had a child together. Their marriage was going well, and they soon had another child.
Zack enlisted in the military to help support his family. During his time in the military, he was subjected to harsh and extreme situations, and when he returned, his friends revealed that he had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He joined the military expecting an honorable discharge, but instead received a general discharge that stripped him of his medical and other benefits. When Zeck returned from iraq. he was a different person, so he and Lana divorced and decided to co-parent their children.
Zack rejoined the army in May 2000 and was awarded a NATO medal and a Presidential Unit Citation for his bravery. When be returned, he went back to being a bartender, where he met Addie Hali.
Addie Hall was described by her friends as someone who enjoyed poetry, dancing, and creating art. She was gifted and clever. Zack and Eddie met during the Hurricane Katrina, when Zack invited her to live with him. Their
relationship was a complete success, and they quickly became very close. They also made headlines when they offered their neighbors drinks in exchange for food and water during natural disasters
A Marriage Disaster
After the shock of the disaster wore off, Addie and Zack adjusted to real life. They discovered that they were not as good for each other as they had anticipated under normal circumstances.
They were highly toxic to each other, constantly fought, and did drugs and drank excessively. Zack even disconnected from his children and declared that he would no longer co-parent them.
Their friends told the investigators that Addie was unhappy with Zack having children and desired to have him all to himself. But why did Zack murder a woman he adored and for whom he abandoned his children? This question has yet to be answered.
A Similar Murder Case
Margaret Sanchez, one of Addie’s friends, and her boyfriend, Terry Speaks, were arrested on June 12, 2012, for the murder of Jaren Lockhart, a Bourbon Street dancer.
The disturbing aspect of this murder case is that the dancer was murdered in the same manner as Addie Her torso washed up in Mississippi the day after she was murdered.
It was later determined that the couple lured the dancer to their apartment, murdered her, and then dismembered her into pieces, just as they had done to Addie
Speaks was sentenced to life in prison, while Sanchez was sentenced to 40 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter and other offenses. Many people assumed that the murder and suicide case was too simple to be true, and that Margaret had something to do with Addie and Zack’s deaths.
However, nothing really has come to light about the case, and the truly horrific murder of Addie Hall and Zack Bowen is one of the many cold confirmed cases over the years…CONTINUE READING>>
