Different regions and states have also tried to put measures in place to checkmate the issue of insecurity. Some of the regions set up security outfits like Amotekun in the Southwest and Ebubeagu in the Southeast so as to combat banditry, kidnapping and other crimes at the grassroot.

In spite of the different measures put in place by both the federal government and all the state government, the issue of insecurity, most especially banditry is still a thing of great concern to Nigerians. Banditry has seriously affected farming and economic activities in Nigeria, most especially in the Northern part of the country.

Nigeria as a country will not relent in its effort aimed at getting to the root of banditry and criminal activities in Nigeria. New strategies should be employed by our security agencies on a regular basis so that the bandits and other criminals can have a change of mind.

One of the good innovations that can also help in solving the issue of insecurity in Nigeria is the one being developed by Professor Banjo Akintoye. The Development of “PAJAWIRI” a tracking app that can be used to track kidnap victims, is a great step in the right direction by the revered elder statesman, Professor Banjo Akintoye.

If “PAJAWIRI” is fully developed and start functioning as proposed, it may signal the end of banditry and kidnapping in the southwest part of Nigeria. This great initiative is a good one that can be emulated by other part of the country so as to jointly get rid of the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.
