According to the latest reports, the former Real Madrid coach has been picked to replace the Argentine, beating out Christophe Galtier and Jose Mourinho.
If Zidane were to join a team like Manchester United, Bayern Munich, or Juventus, Real Madrid fans would be aware of the situation.
They’re all big European teams with a lot of history, and they all have something to offer future coaches.
Given the current level of antagonism between the two clubs, Zidane will need Real Madrid’s forgiveness in collaborating with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and PSG.
PSG has just delivered Real Madrid a hammer blow by using tremendous political pressure to re-sign Kylian Mbappe to a contract extension, despite Los Blancos having gone to incredible lengths to encourage him to join them.
That was bad enough, but for the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu’s favorite son to go out and coach him in direct rivalry with Los Merengues? That is an excessively harsh rebuke.
There will be a flurry of conspiracies. Mbappe anticipated Zidane’s arrival and stayed. Knowing about the position, Zidane pushed Mbappe to stay in Paris, and he opted to stab his former employers, the club where he has legendary reputation.
Of course, it’s possible that all of these occurrences are coincidental, and that Zidane had no influence on Mbappe’s choice to reject Real Madrid, but no one can be certain.
