According to Wafula, their idyllic marriage lasted a year and a half before running into headwinds. The 25-year-old said that shortly after separating, he started hearing rumours that his estranged wife had gotten married to a close friend and neighbour.
Wafula said that the friend started avoiding him and even travelled to Nairobi to avoid a confrontation. The young man running a barbershop claimed that the child was suffering at the stepfather’s house as he was financially unstable.
Wafula, who also does blow drying at his barbershop, sought advice from Kenyans on whether he should insist on raising the child or leave him with the mother and stepfather.
