Gombe – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe state has called on the lawmaker representing Gombe central senatorial district, Danjuma Goje, to take the back seat and allow his successor to govern the state.

The Punch reports that the publicity secretary for the APC in Gombe state, Moses Kyari, said it would be impressive for Goje to leave the platform when the ovation is loudest.

Kyari while addressing journalists on the purported resignation of Yalmatu Deba ward executive, at the APC secretariat, Kyari warned that “Gombe is not Edo state” and that the party would not tolerate the tension being created by the lawmaker.

Kyari said:

“Like a true law abiding institution, we are going by the constitution of the party. We have asked him to come and apologise but he is yet to apologise as we speak.”

He also said that the APC in the state has set up a committee to formerly write Goje in order to give the opportunity to address some of the issues raised within the party.

The Voice of Nigeria reports that Kyari warned that once the formal letter is written and no change is seen on the lawmaker’s part, the party would have no other option but to resort to using a constitutional approach to resolving the matter.

He said:

“They said you leave the stage when the ovation is loudest so that you can be recorded and remembered tomorrow.”

“But you have played your role and you want to play another person’s role, this is what we say no to, as some people will tell you, Gombe no be Edo.”

Senator Goje’s daughter resigns as commissioner

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Goje’s daughter, Dr Hussaina had resigned her position as the commissioner of environment and forest resources in Gombe state.

Hussaina resignation followed the growing feud between the lawmaker, who served as a former governor of the state and his successor.

The former commissioner resigned a day after suspected political thugs assaulted her father in a perceived attempt to leverage on the rift between him and the governor.
Gombe executive members resign over Goje, Inuwa rift

In another instance, several members of the executive council of Yamaltu/Deba local government area of Gombe state have resigned their positions.

The resignation of the executives followed the feud between Senator Goje and Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Yahaya

The party chieftains say they can continue to watch the disrespect their principal is subjected to in Gombe state.
