The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the report of mass resignation of its ward executives in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area LGA of Gombe State in solidarity with Sen. Danjuma Goje was false.

Goje, a former governor has been in battle with the incumbent governor of the state, Yahaya Inuwa over the control of the APC structure in Gombe ahead of the 2023 election.

A story which was widely spread on the social media had indicated that over 80 per cent of APC ward executives in Yamaltu/Deba LGA have resigned their positions in solidarity with Sen. Danjuma Goje.

But Mr Moses Kyari, the APC publicity secretary in Gombe described the report as the handiwork of enemies of the party at a press conference on Thursday.

Gov. Yahaya Bello has said that the dredging of the Lower Rivers Niger and Benue will provide over two million direct and indirect jobs to the masses upon completion.

Bello made this known while inaugurating the commencement of the hydrographic survey and charting of the Lower Rivers Niger and Benue; from Lokoja to Burutu.

The governor, in a statement by Mr. Onogwu Mohammed, his Chief Press Secretary in Lokoja, lauded the Federal Government’s economic diversification, job creation efforts.

Bello further lauded the initiative, which was birthed by the Private Public Partnership of Nigeria Export-import Bank in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy and National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

THE National Chairman- elect of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu, has said the party under his leadership will remain accountable.

He also expressed preparedness to review the reports of various committees set up by the outgoing Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee and ensure that their recommendations are implemented.

Court jails secondary school student over threat to kill teacher

A secondary school student, Segun Dosumu, is to spend three weeks in jail with hard labour for threatening to kill one of his teachers.

This is as an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court found the 20-year-old student guilty of the charge preferrred against him on Thursday.

Dosumu, a resident of Iboro area of Ogun State, was said to have pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court.

As a result, the Magistrate, Mr S. S. Sotayo, after reviewing the facts of the case presented before him by the Prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, convicted Dosumu, but with an option of #200,000 fine.
