The 22-year-old Dutch defender, who recently joined the Gunners on a five-year contract, cited two former Arsenal stars, Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie, as his personal heroes.
Timber attributed his affinity for Arsenal to his brothers, who were avid fans of the club.He fondly recalled watching Arsenal play and being captivated by the team’s style of play and prominent players.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said, “They had big players, the way they played, the style. I just love the club… I liked watching Robin van Persie, of course, and Thierry Henry. They were my favorite players.”
Although Timber is expected to feature primarily as a right-back, providing competition for Ben White, he expressed confidence in his ability to contribute across multiple positions.
He considers himself fortunate to be capable of playing as a central defender, right full-back, and even occasionally in midfield.
Timber highlighted the similarities in playing style between Arsenal and his former club Ajax, particularly their emphasis on playing from the back.
