A resident of the area who identified himself as Olabamiji revealed to Punch Newspaper how the incident happened. He said that the gunmen disguised themselves as worshippers during the morning mass before they opened fire. He claimed that they saw them because they didn’t cover their faces but thought they were worshippers. He added that their guns were directed at anyone on sight, particularly women and children.

Olabamiji also revealed that the evil men threw dynamite into the church and that they couldn’t count them because everyone was running for safety. He further claimed that no security operatives were present to confront the assailants during the attack. He said that the gunmen fled immediately after the attack and no one checked them.

Meanwhile, a health worker at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, revealed that over 50 victims were brought to the hospital, stating that several of them were confirmed dead while some were still breathing. Another nurse at St Louis Hospital, Owo, said that among the casualties brought to the hospital, he was able to see 12 dead people.
