As known, Messi spent a major part of his football career playing for Barcelona, until he joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last year. Playing for Barcelona, he was able to create some records in La Liga, and some of the records he created both in Barcelona and La Liga remain unbeaten to date.
Apart from the records he created in his club career, he recently created an astounding record in his international career as well. Based on the games played for Argentina between last year and this year, he has now won two (2) international trophies for his national team, and this has made a lot of his fans respect him more.
Thus, in honor of his birthday today, we will be seeing his all-time career records. However, we will be seeing the records he has created in football history, such that no other player has created such a record, and more precisely, no other player has been able to beat the records.
Not to mention the fact that he’s among the players with the most trophies won in football history, considering all the trophies he has won, both at the club and international level.
• Messi is Barcelona’s all-time top scorer. The Argentine has scored a total of 672 goals for Barcelona. No other Barcelona player has beaten that record to date (both active and retired players).
• He is Argentina’s all-time top scorer, having scored 86 goals for his national team.
• He is La Liga’s all-time top scorer. He has scored 474 goals in La Liga, and no other player has beaten that record – not even Cristiano Ronaldo.
• He has won the most Ballon D’or award in football history. He has now won 7 of the award. The closest to this record is Cristiano Ronaldo, who won 5 Ballon D’or awards.
• He holds the record for the most goals scored in a calendar year. He scored 91 goals in 2012.
• He also holds the record for the most goals scored in a season, having scored 73 goals in a single season. He created this record in the 2011/12 football season, having scored 73 goals in 60 games.
So, these are the records ONLY Lionel Messi has created in football history.
