The closure had been necessitated by heavy rains that had made it risky for motorists to ply the route. “We are pleased to inform the public that Kamulu–Kangundo (b6) is now open,” KeNHA said.
In a public notice on Wednesday evening, the Authority said heavy downpours experienced upstream led to flooding at the section of the road.
“The Authority cautioned road users against any attempts to use this affected section of the road in the interest of their safety,” KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said.
“Motorists to approach this section with caution as there could be possible flooding due to stormwater upstream of Athi River,” He cautioned
He stated that the Authority is on the ground for minor repairs caused by the flood waters after confirming the structural integrity of the bridge.
“We remain committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate the safe passage of goods and services for economic prosperity,” he stated
Earlier, he asked the public to be patient and wait for the waters to subside and allow the Authority to inspect the bridge to enable safe passage.
Ndung’u said KeNHA is geared towards enhancing road safety on the national road network including towing stalled motor vehicles which have the potential of compromising the safety of road users.
“The public is urged to call the toll-free line 0800-211-244 which is operational on a 24-hour basis to report any incident on the road which has the potential of compromising public safety,” Ndung’u advised..CONTINUE READING>>
