It was a frustrating night for the Reds at Anfield, with Darwin Nunez getting sent off for a ludicrous headbutt on Joachim Andersen.

Wilfried Zaha opened the scoring for Palace before the Uruguayan’s dismissal, but the Eagles were denied a famous win by an unbelievable Luis Diaz equaliser.

It wasn’t a vintage display from Alexander-Arnold, but Fabregas was impressed with the 23-year-old’s range which the Spaniard compared to one of the all-time great full-backs.

Trent could have had two assists, with Nunez and Mohamed Salah both missing chances despite excellent delivery from the England international.

“Haven’t seen a fullback with this range of passing since @DaniAlvesD2 [Dani Alves],” the Spanish midfielder posted on Twitter, referring to the Liverpool man.

Being compared to former Barcelona defender Dani Alves is no mean feat for any full-back, and Alexander-Arnold will be happy that such recognition comes his way from as quality a player as Fabregas.

Alves is currently the most decorated player of all time and has just been released after a second spell at Barcelona, joining Mexican side Pumas.

He has won 47 official trophies in his career, including six La Liga’s, three UEFA Champions League winners medals and titles in France, Italy and Brazil. He also has won two Copa America titles and an Olympic Gold.

Alves was also named in the FIFPro World XI eight times, leaving him widely regarded as the best in his position for nearly a decade.

If Alexander-Arnold can emulate even half of what Alves has achieved throughout his established career, he will go down in history.
