The minister also stated that the intensive phase of the ground offensive in the southern region, near the city of Khan Younis, would soon be completed.
Gallant outlined the strategic goals of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the region, emphasizing that, “At the end of the war, there would be no military threat from Gaza. Hamas will not be able to control and function as a military force in the Gaza Strip.”
He further added that the IDF aims for “total victory,” ensuring that Hamas cannot pose a military threat in the future.
Addressing the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza, Gallant underscored the importance of maintaining military pressure for negotiations.
He mentioned, “Without military pressure, no one would talk to us. Only from a position of strength can the hostages be freed.”
The Israeli army is committed to using its influence to secure the release of the remaining hostages.
