Both players moved clubs last summer with Lionel Messi leaving his boyhood club, Barcelona, in search of a new challenge at Paris Saint-Germain while Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United after he had left the club more than 10 years ago.
Both players have arguably been underwhelming for their respective clubs, based on their lofty standards but based on ‘humanly’ terms, they have been impressive.
Lionel Messi has been criticized by many football fans for his performance for Paris Saint-Germain but the Argentine superstar has actually not had a poor season.
The former Barcelona star played 33 games for the French Ligue 1 side in all competitions and he scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists. He also added the French Ligue 1 trophy to his already envious trophy cabinet.
Cristiano Ronaldo on the other hand didn’t win any trophy with Manchester United as the Red Devils are in the sixth position on the English Premier League table but the Portuguese superstar has been Manchester United’s best player this season.
The former Juventus star has played 39 games with Manchester United this season and he has scored 24 goals and provided 3 assists.
