The Blues have told FC Barcelona about their interest in signing one of their star players after a report from The Sun claims Chelsea FC have told FC Barcelona they are working on a ‘formal proposal’ to bring De Jong to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old Dutch player is believed to be Manchester United’s top priority target as they recently submitted a £72million bid to lure him away from Nou Camp.
Therefore, Chelsea FC needs to up their game to secure the services of Frenkie De Jong.
In another report, the former Ajax man Frenkie isn’t willing to reunite with his former boss Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford, serving as a boost to Chelsea FC.
If Chelsea could sign De Jong, he would be a long-term option at Chelsea’s midfield unit, given his tender age and potential.
