The pilot of the aircraft initiated an emergency call to John C. Tune Airport at approximately 7:40 p.m., citing engine trouble.
Despite being granted clearance for an emergency landing, the pilot later communicated that the airport could not be reached. The plane ultimately crashed in a grassy median just off Interstate 40, igniting into flames behind a Costco on the city’s westside.
Metro Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron expressed grim findings, stating, “It appears that everyone on board perished.” The exact number of victims remains unknown at this time.
The crash site, located approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) south of the general aviation airport, prompted an immediate response from authorities.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, and investigations into the incident are set to be carried out by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
