Many couples explore various forms of fantasies while engaging in intimacy with their partner; some are within safe zones, while others tend to pose certain health risks, which leads us to the dangers associated with swallowing your partner’s male reproductive fluid during intimacy....CONTINUE READING
In line with a publication by WebMD, the male reproductive fluid is primarily comprised of spermatozoa (motile cells that can fertilise a female’s eggs to create offspring), water, mucus, plasma, and other nutrients like lactic acid, fructose (which provides energy for the motile cells), zinc, protein, glucose, potassium, and magnesium, amongst others in small concentrations.
These nutrients and calories present in the fluid of a healthy male would pose no health risk to the body when ingested; however, rare cases of allergic reactions to this fluid have been recorded, and this is medically known as seminal plasma hypersensitivity (HSP).
As it is with engaging in intimacy without good protection, swallowing your partner’s infected fluid can increase your chances of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including bacterial infections like gonorrhoea (caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae) and chlamydia (caused by Chlamydia trachomatis).
Also, couples who engage in oral intimacy may contract the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV); this is slightly more difficult, but the chances do exist.
Herpes and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which could cause throat cancer, are not exempt from this discussion.
The bottom line here is to stay true to one medically tested and trusted partner, carefully observe the changes in the colour and smell of the male reproductive fluid, and then consult with a qualified medical doctor. You could also discuss your discomforts with your partner, and don’t forget to use protection during intimacy.
