The brand surveyed nearly 1,400 male sex toy users to get their opinions on sex, including things like “What do men think about sex?,” “What gets men into the mood for sex?,” and “What societal changes would men like to see when it comes to discussing male sexuality?”
Arcwave claims that the study’s findings show that men “desire more open communication about sex, experience sensitivities around their own body image, and find pleasing their partner to be the most enjoyable part of sex.”
Specific questions explored topics like how often men talk about sex with friends, what gets them in the mood, and how they feel about anal stimulation.
And while it wasn’t the most noteworthy statistic in the study, 32% of men agreed with the statement “I wish my sexual partners would understand that I value emotional connection and intimacy over sexual techniques.”
It can be easy to forget amid all the hoopla about how hot it is, that sex can be an incredibly emotionally vulnerable experience. Baring your whole self to someone else can be stressful, and even emotionally draining — even if it goes well.
So it’s no surprise men are seeking more emotionally connected sex than just a no-strings-attached hookup. Though there’s not anything wrong with this kind of interaction, it’s a good thing to remember that it’s not for everyone, and the cultural perception of men as being, tough and unemotional horndogs does not necessarily line up with the reality
