Liverpool are trying to sign a midfielder in the last days of the transfer window. It’s a difficult task considering the quality of the Reds’ side and that clubs are tempted to fleece Liverpool, knowing about their injury problems....CONTINUE READING

So here are all midfielders who have recently been linked with a move to Anfield. We’ve also rated the probability of a move happening on a scale from 1 to 10.

Toni Kroos: 1/10. Reported by Spanish source Fichajes, this doesn’t look likely at all. Kroos is a fantastic player but he’s definitely not the type Klopp is looking for. Additionally, he’s happy at Madrid.

Frenkie de Jong: 1/10. The Dutchman seems very committed to Barcelona so a move looks extremely unlikely at this point. Would have been a dream come true though, he looks like a perfect fit for Klopp.

Nicolo Barella: 1/10. Consistently linked with a move to Liverpool, the Italian does not seem interested in an Anfield switch.

Ruben Neves: 2/10. Wolves don’t want to sell the Portugal international but rumours about Liverpool’s interest in him keep popping up.

Moises Caicedo: 3/10. The Brighton youngster looks like what the doctor ordered for Liverpool but it’s unclear if the Seagulls are open to him leaving.

Sander Berge: 3/10. The Yorkshire Post and the Daily Mail have reported on Liverpool’s interest in the Norwegian. We’re not sure if he’s good enough for the Reds but he looks like a viable option this late in the window.

Matt O’Riley: 4/10. The Celtic man seems available for transfer but we’re not sure he’d be an upgrade on Liverpool’s current options such as Curtis Jones and James Milner.

Youri Tielemans: 4/10. Linked with a move to Liverpool by reliable Melissa Reddy, it’s still uncertain Leicester would let one of their best players leave.

Konrad Laimer: 5/10. The Austrian’s contract with Leipzig expires in 2023 so this window is one last chance for the Bundesliga side to sell him for a fee. The asking price is said to be £25m. He’s looking like the most likely option at the moment, but it doesn’t mean Liverpool will definitely sign him.

There is every chance that the Reds won’t bring a midfielder at all, or pull a rabbit out of the hat and sign someone who hasn’t been linked with them at all.
