Mohamed Salah has been named in the Most Valuable XI in world football, followed by Liverpool team mate Trent Alexander-Arnold and four Premier League rivals.

Now the 2021/22 season has concluded, Transfer Market have compiled an XI of players they believe to be the most valuable with the the line-up worth a staggering £884m.

Perhaps it is no surprise to see two culprits in Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe worth £144m and new Manchester City signing Erling Haaland worth £135m lead the line.

At just 23, Frenchman Mbappe has won seven major titles, both at club and international level – including five Ligue 1 trophies, a World Cup and a Nations League. Haaland swooped the Golden Boy award in 2020, the one of many sensational achievements in his career.

As for Salah, he is ranked joint fourth with City star Phil Foden with the pair worth £81m. The Egypt international has gone on to win the Champions League and the Premier League with the Reds.

His stellar performances at Anfield also led him to swoop the top scorer award in the English top-flight (2017/18, 2018/19 and 2021/22) as well as the African Footballer of the Year award in 2017 and 2018.

Brazilian playmaker Vinicius Junior, who scored the winner in the Champions League final against Jurgen Klopp’s side, was ranked third worth £90m. Meanwhile Alexander-Arnold is said to be worth £72m, having recently won both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup for his boyhood club.

City defender Ruben Dias is worth the same value as West Ham’s Declan Rice (£67m). Although his inclusion in the squad may come as a surprise for some, he guided David Moyes’ side to the semi-final of the Europa League, before getting knocked out by German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt back in May.

Dias, Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies have retained their place from the last edition, the Reds’ defender Virgil van Dijk has missed out after compatriot Matthijs de Ligt cemented a place in the squad.

Between the sticks, Real Madrid stopper Thibaut Courtois was given the nod ahead of the likes of City’s Ederson and Liverpool’s Alisson.
