After his contract expires at Borussia Dortmund on 30th June, Witsel will move to Atletico Madrid for a season, with the option of another, according to Belgian media information ‘RTBF’.

The Belgian international will join Atletico on a free after passing his medical on Monday. The plan is for the move to be made official on Tuesday.

Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta confirmed the deal to his inner circle and Simeone has reportedly met with the player to get to know his future plans. The agreement is practically completed.

Witsel wants to play for Atletico Madrid, which will allow him to have his first taste of playing in Spain. At the age of 23, he has been at Standard Liege, Benfica, Zenit St Petersburg, Tianjin and Borussia Dortmund.

In fact, according to this informatio, Witsel has reportedly chosen the French school in Madrid which his three children will attend. The official announcement will come in a matter of days.

This season, the Belgian has played in 41 matches (29 in the Bundesliga), with two goals scored. His performances have been rather inconsistent, but he hopes to get back his best version at the Wanda.
