This season, in LaLiga Santander and after five games, Barça have won four games and drawn another. They have 13 points, with five goals scored and one conceded. Numbers that are difficult to match.

In the Champions League, they have not fared so well either. A 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday has left them with three points in their group. Two games, one win and one defeat with five goals scored and three conceded.

Last season Barcelona made a disastrous start to LaLiga Santander. Two wins and three draws in the first five games. Nine goals scored and six conceded. And worst of all, outside the Champions League places (sixth position).

In the Champions League everything was dire. Two games, two defeats, two defeats, two 3-0, six goals conceded and none scored. Benfica and Bayern Munich were the losers and in that group stage they ended up dropping to the Europa League.

It is still too early to say whether Barcelona can win titles, but what is clear is that they have made a much better start than last season. Now it’s time to back it up with good play, goals and points.
