P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened on 3rd March, 2024 at Oworoshoki area of Lagos where she reside with the baby before she poisoned her to die.

But to her surprise, the baby did not die having forced the baby some quantity of insecticide to drink, the embattled mother, Rukayat became agitated, rushed the baby to University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for medical attention and the act got exposed.

Mrs. Rukayat has been arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command undergoing interrogation for her the alleged conduct which is a case of attempted murder under the Criminal law of the State.

This was disclosed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed that that Rukayat had been placed under arrest, and an exhaustive investigation into the matter had began.

According to the Police, the tragic event happened after Rukayat’s infant daughter had been battling epilepsy, and purportedly, the mother reached a breaking point, resorting to poisoning as a solution to her turmoil.

However, as the treatment was going on, she reportedly confessed to LUTH Doctor treating the baby that she administed the toxic substance to her child, citing her inability to cope with her daughter’s epilepsy as the motive.

The matter was reported to the Police and she was subsequently arrested and detained while the daughter was still receiving treatment at the hospital over the poisoning .
