Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission carried out significant searches on his residence as well as the residence of Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali, culminating in the arrest of the suspect.
Homes in Nairobi and Marsabit were searched during the searches that were carried out.
Before being nominated to the position of Cabinet Secretary by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Yattani served as the governor of Marsabit.
In addition, the residences of high-ranking officials from the county were searched.
According to the EACC, the former Cabinet Minister is now in their detention and will be sent to the Integrity Centre. Yattani also faces other money laundering-related charges.
