It is Arsenal who now find themselves at the summit. Mikel Arteta‘s men continued their outstanding start to 2024 with a 3-0 win over Brighton on Saturday.

It was remarkable how comfortable the Gunners appeared to be on the south coast. And it was particularly impressive given that Manchester City had played some scintillating football at Crystal Palace earlier in the day.

It is ominous for Arsenal and Liverpool that both Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland scored at Selhurst Park. City did not even use Phil Foden following his hat-trick in midweek.

Liverpool have their chance to respond today. The Reds travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. A win will take Jurgen Klopp ‘s side back to the top. But of course, they suffered defeat the same ground in the FA Cup just before the international break.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Tim Howard was shown each side’s run-ins. And he suggested that he has had a change of heart about where he thinks the title could be going.

“Arsenal’s run-in is so, so difficult. I’ve always stuck with Arsenal. I just believe that Liverpool are in pole position with their run-in, and with the fact that I think they can go two points clear tomorrow,” he said.

This definitely has the potential to be one of the best title races in Premier League history. No-one seems to have any interest in dropping the ball.

Manchester City are the only team to take points off Arsenal in 2024. Meanwhile, City also drew with Liverpool. And the Reds’ only defeat this year came against the Gunners.

City have not lost in any competition in four months. And everyone knows what Pep Guardiola’s side can be capable of at the business end of the season.

For now, Howard is tipping Liverpool. But it would be no surprise if that prediction changed as the weeks go on…CONTINUE READING>>
