One CSO from Mombasa saw the meeting as merely an induction of the new CSOs by the commission.

“This was purely an induction exercise for the new colleagues and a recap for the old guys, nothing more than that,” he said.

However, his colleague from Siaya said he was glad some new roles had been added to their job description.

“TSC convened the workshop so as to train CSOs on new roles that were at last added to us,” he said, referring to the duties of teacher management that equated them to Sub-county Directors (SCD).

While giving his closing remarks, the chairman of the National CSOs Welfare Dr Patrick Bulinda thanked the commission for organizing an exceptional workshop that was such a success.

Dr Bulinda implored the commission to urgently improve the CSO’s terms and conditions of service as promised, calling on an urgent review of their Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) to motivate them to work even harder.

He was, during the conference, confirmed as the bonafide chairperson of the CSOs after the 47 county chairpersons unanimously settled on him.

The endorsement brought to an end claims by a section of CSOs that there were no office bearers.
