The Icon of the Seas is an immense vessel, measuring a staggering 1,200 ft (365 meters) in length and weighing 250,800 tonnes. It has a remarkable capacity to accommodate over 7,960 people, which translates to approximately 5,610 passengers or 2,350 crew members when it embarks on its maiden voyage in January 2024.

The number of passengers onboard may even increase. This impressive ship features an extraordinary six water slides, known as Category 6, along with seven pools and nine whirlpools.

Compared to the current largest ship, the Wonder of the Seas, Royal Caribbean states that the Icon of the Seas is 6% bigger and 10 ft longer.

The ship has been undergoing construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland since April 2022 and recently completed its trial run from there. On January 27, 2024, it will embark on its first voyage from Miami. The ship will be based in Miami until at least April 2025, offering 7-night cruises to the Caribbean.

The Icon of the Seas boasts an array of impressive features, including a water park, dedicated family areas, revamped pool decks, an aqua dome area, an aqua theatre area, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows providing breathtaking 220-degree views. It also includes a park with thousands of real plants, a swim-up bar, an infinity pool, and more. Once fully completed, the ship will consist of 20 decks.

The most notable attraction on the Icon of the Seas is the Category 6 water park, featuring six water slides, including an exhilarating free-fall slide, family raft slides, and two mat-racing slides. All of the experiences in Category 6 will be complimentary for guests.
