According to Canon Oduor, the Sunday burial will be very basic, so the deceased General requested to be buried as soon as possible after his passing.

He added that his brother had even shown him the precise location of his grave, which was close to his home in Mor village, Siaya County.

To relieve undue strain on the family, the late General Ogolla envisaged a modest ritual burial akin to Muslim customs, in which he would be wrapped in sheets.

Even though the burial is straightforward, additional Luo customs will be followed.

Canon Oduor invited everyone who wanted to grieve with them, in person or virtually, and assured them there would be enough food.

Peris Onyango, the late General’s sister, disclosed that her brother was highly ready to pass away.

She revealed that even though she tried to talk him out of thinking about it, every time he came to see her, he would tell her what his funeral should look like.

She continued by saying that her brother had never stopped stating that death is a fact, particularly for soldiers like him who face death every day while performing their duties.

“The sudden death has thrown the entire community into a state of disarray as Ogolla was a philanthropist,” said Ms. Onyango.

She described her late brother as very generous and someone who listened to the problems affecting villagers.

“He helped the church and ensured its completion, provided a water borehole, and rewarded the schools he attended,” she said.
